Media Partnership - Global Europe Instrument: Role of European Development Banks in Delivering EU External Action

As discussions on the European Union's next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) advance, development finance is emerging as a key pillar of the EU's external action. Against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty, growing investment needs and constrained public resources, the Joint European Financiers for International Cooperation (JEFIC) will convene a high-level discussion on the role of European development banks in delivering the Union's external action objectives.
The event will bring together representatives of EU institutions, Member States, development finance institutions and other stakeholders to discuss how the European Financial Architecture for Development can best support the EU's development, geopolitical and economic priorities in an increasingly complex international environment.
The discussion will focus on three key themes: aligning development finance with the EU's strategic priorities, strengthening the Team Europe implementation architecture, and mobilising public and private investment in a constrained fiscal environment. Participants will explore how European development banks can help maximise the impact of EU resources and foster sustainable development through partnerships with countries around the world.
The event is organised by JEFIC under the co-presidency of BGK and CDP and will take place on 3 November 2026 at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the European Union in Brussels.
