Media Partnership: U15 Social Media Forum. Beyond Prohibition: Would a Social Media Ban Save Our Children?
REGISTER HERE
The Commission's proposed EU KIDS Act would bar children under 13 from social media and set 15 as the EU-wide minimum age for opening an account of their own. Few dispute that children need better protection online. The harder question is what will actually work, and at what cost to privacy, competition and digital freedoms.
This forum brings together policymakers, researchers, civil society and industry to test whether age limits can be enforced in practice, how age verification would operate, and what else could make platforms safer: better design, more transparent recommender systems and stronger digital literacy.
